Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.
Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.
The win also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.
However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a decider.
Moutet defended 4 initial chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
